What are Cornish Units / Precast Reinforced Concrete properties?

Basically, the property was built with concrete that was made stronger with steel rods. The houses were then put together like a kit. They were originally intended as temporary dwellings for Local Authorities with an estimated life expectancy of only 20-40 years. In addition to the problems of poor insulation and energy efficiency, a number of significant structural defects have arisen, resulting in them being labeled as "defective" by mortgage lenders and as such many will not lend against them unless repaired.

How We Can Help

We offer two options,

1, We have access to a specialist lender which will lend up to 60% of the property value as long as the property is in a good standard of repair, yes the interest rates are higher to reflect the lenders risk.

A mortgage and the repair of your property in one go:

2, We have teamed up with a specialist lender which offers a unique service. A mortgage and the repair of your property in one go. The lender through a specialist company will repair and reinstate your "defective" property to a fully mortgageable condition, all work is guaranteed. Not only do you have a nicer home to live in but you will benefit from the significant increase in your property value. The initial mortgage you obtain covers not only the purchase price of the property but also the cost of doing all the reinstatement work.
